On August 16 - 17, the first international piano competition will take place in the Hall in Kópavogur. The competition is held by the Association of Icelandic Pianists Peter Máté, Erna Vala Arnardóttir and Nína Margréti Grímsdóttir under the banner of WPTA Iceland IPC 2025.
The jury is made up of both national and foreign judges, and the award winners receive an auspicious monetary award for outstanding music performance. The competition is sponsored by Steinway and Tónastöðin, as well as support from Kópavogsbær, LHÍ/Opna University of the Arts, Salnum and Kópavog's Music School.
The program for the weekend is as follows
- August 15 at 20:00: Jury concert
- August 16: WPTA Iceland International Piano Competition
- Class 1 at 14.00 - 14:50
- Class 2 at 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
- August 17 at 2:00 pm: Awards ceremony and winner's concert
Admission to all events of the competition is free and open to all music lovers.
