Sincere thanks to everyone who came to the Anniversary Festival of the Faculty of Performing Arts: Forum on the future of performing arts education last Saturday. A great successful day with great people, as the department celebrated that this fall it has been 25 years since acting studies in Iceland rose to university level, and it has been 20 years since the establishment of a stage master's program and a diploma program in contemporary dance at LHÍ.
Bjarni Jónsson, playwright and stage artist, gave a festival address and the performing arts group 16 lovers stepped up, as well as the guests were invited to participate in seminars about the future of performing arts studies.
A few words from the opening speech of Una Þorleifsdóttir, dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts:
, During these 25 years, a great development has taken place both inside and outside the school and the performing arts program has undergone a lot of changes. Over the years, a large and good group of people has come to the department, but at this juncture, I would like to mention especially those who were at the beginning - Hjálmar H. Ragnarson, the first rector of LHÍ, and Ragnheiði Skúladóttir, the first dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts, under whose leadership a lot of entrepreneurial work was done and the basis for development within the performing arts and studies at LHÍ was laid for the future. From the beginning, the goal was to increase diversity and knowledge within the field by offering more study programs within the performing arts than just a casting course, an international contemporary dance program and later a master's studies in the performing arts testify to “.“
Thank you dear guests and professionals for coming and the conversation.
