The RIFF International Film Festival took place recently, but the festival is one of the largest and most diverse cultural events in the country and was now held for the 22nd time. The program puts young filmmakers and progressive filmmaking at the forefront, and this year a number of representatives from LHÍ were among the participants.
At the festival, awards are given for the best contribution in various categories, and we are very pleased to report that the students of the LHÍ film art department both received the award in the category of short films.

Sleeping gang and Play completed the best short films
The pictures Sleeping gang and Game over were chosen this year in the category of short films RIFF 2024 and are both from the workshop of the students of the Faculty of Cinematic Arts at LHÍ.
Alfred Hrafn Magnússon is the director and screenwriter of the film Svefngengill, which the jury of RIFF describes as an effective film with an experimental approach that keeps the viewer from start to finish. Then Alfred receives a lot of praise from the jury for his good command of hues and imagery. Salvör Bergmann is the director and screenwriter of the film Leik finished. She also receives a lot of praise for her nuances and style and is said to have a future in directing.
