Guiding light

The Open University of the Arts is the University of the Arts' gateway to society, where knowledge and experience can flow freely in both directions. His goal is, among other things, to spark the public's interest in the arts and to give the widest possible group of people access to the expertise and facilities that the Iceland Academy of the Arts has.

At the Open University of the Arts, working artists and designers are given the opportunity for lifelong learning, professional development and networking. Emphasis is placed on analyzing and responding to the needs of the forum and actively collaborating with professional associations, companies and institutions in this regard.

The Open University of the Arts celebrates the diversity of human life, and therefore efforts are made to ensure the access of those groups who have not had easy access to art and cultural education until now, whether due to residence, disability, origin or other factors.

Events organized by the Open University of the Arts range from quick evening courses for the general public to large specialized courses at master's level.
