Massimo's research is based on studies on justice, citizenship, feminism, post-humanism and cosmopolitanism to review architectural education and its implementation in the Icelandic context and beyond. He has been developing the theory of Cosmopolitan Citizenship Architecture Education (CCAE), a model that will create a renewed understanding of designers' roles and responsibilities towards our shared social and ecological environment. His research is the inspiration for the theme of the 2023 ACSA/EAAE Teachers Conference, which will take place in Reykjavík in June 2023.
Massimo holds an MArch from the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia; an MA in Urban Studies from the Architectural Association, the School of Architecture in London; an MSc in Urban Planning Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science; and a PhD in Cultural Studies and Education and Diversity from the University of Iceland.
