Anyone who uses data in LHÍ's library and information services must respect their copyright, whether it is books, magazines, audio recordings, sheet music, videos, electronic data or other forms.

According to copyright law no. 73/1972, the author alone has the right to make copies of his works, distribute them, display them and publish them.

Contracts with libraries have been concluded as these rules have been extended to some extent.

Anyone using the datasets and periodicals to which LHÍ's library and information services purchase access must respect the copyright of the works available there.

In general, it can be said that electronic journals and other sources specified on the LHÍ library website are only for use by students, teachers, and other LHÍ employees for the purpose of studying, teaching, research and other things that are considered for personal use.

The information is strictly prohibited for profit and systematic download, copying and distribution of it is strictly prohibited.

According to the agreement between Fjölís and the Ministry of Education and Culture on copying for use in school work, the following may be:

Short episodes from each published work, 20% at most, but never more than 30 pages per student can be copied However, entire book chapters and journal articles may be copied.

No more than two articles may be copied from each magazine issue.

Copying of paper is only for temporary use and therefore it is not permitted to keep such copies in inventory at the school.

Electronic access to material entered into a teaching database shall be limited to students and teachers in the relevant course.
