Birna Geirfinnsdóttir and Arnar Freyr Guðmundsson won two gold medals at the award ceremony of the Association of Icelandic Illustrators (FÍT).

The award ceremony took place on Friday, March 22 in Gróska, and Birna and Arnar won gold medals for both book design and the book cover of the book Art can heal by Ágústa Oddsdóttir.

Birna is a professor of graphic design and Arnar Freyr is a part-time teacher in graphic design at the Iceland University of the Arts, together they run the design studio Studio Studio.

The jury's review of the book cover says:

„Original Idea, Love at First Sight. Beautiful Image Building and Ingenious Typography. Perfect chaos. Smart execution and good balance. Everything sits well and has its place“ Elaborate complexion in all respects“

The jury's review of the book's design states:

„An outstanding work that makes the artifact desirable and authentic The text is readable“ Amusing images enjoy themselves, exceptionally good prints and exemplary typography"

Newly graduated students of the University of the Arts also went home with awards from the festival. Elís Gunnarsdóttir received a gold medal in the student category for her graduation project, Polar Display.

The jury's review says:

„Technically and conceptually futuristic. An extremely well executed and quality presentation. Here's a test of the tolerance of typographic engineering. Professional practices“.“

Then Hugi Ólafsson received a sifur award in the same category for his graduation project, 13/04/2023 00:00-23:59 64.141793°/64.14179° -21.912035°/-21.91203° 27W 455618 7113133.

The jury's review says:

„The idea taken all the way The project is not worked into the book form has gets the subject in charge The idea takes the implementation across all the limits of reason and the result is unique and solid. “

The FÍT award is a professional award and its role can be found in graphic design and visual descriptions in Iceland every year.
