The jury's reasoning states:
A glorious work on one of the main pioneers in the development of the media in Iceland Óla K.'s photographs were influential and mirrored the contemporary world, with both the artist's sensitivity and the accuracy of the reporter The author's documentary work and text give the images added weight and place the history of Iceland in the 20th century, everyday life as well as major events, in an important context The work highlights the importance of photographs in our sense of history, when they are more often than not intertwined with our ideas and perceptions of life and existence in the century Iceland grew up.
