Artist talk with Halldór Baldursson - Advent meeting and togetherness

Halldór Baldursson is known to most people as a caricaturist and for years he has drawn for both newspapers, magazines and books and attracted a lot of attention for his excellent humor. The topic of the event is Halldór's Masters project at the art education department of the Iceland University of the Arts, which is called „What Now?“

The comic form itself is being examined here and how its narrative method and its imagery are useful in delivering knowledge and knowledge. Halldór's main contribution to the project is based on his experience as the author of a social skop and illustrated books of all kinds over the past 30 years. Thus, the work is also a kind of art research where his own artistic creation is drawn into the field of pedagogy.

The title of the work „What Now?“ includes a question and the answer can be said to take shape in the progress of the work until the end and that a conclusion is reached, that education offers us a choice.

We get Halldór Baldursson to talk about the book, and then Ingimar Ólafsson Waage, Hanna Margrét Einarsdóttir and Sveinn Bjarki Tómasson will look at how art can be involved in the dissemination of knowledge at all levels of education.

This event is part of a joint project between the Faculty of Art Education of the University of the Arts and the Faculty of Education of the University of Iceland. The aim is to hold events of this nature twice every semester. The start of this collaboration was created at the Loftskeytastöðin, the new cultural center of the University of Iceland earlier this fall.

The event is free and light refreshments will be served after it.
