About the project

I've lived in Vesturbær since I was a childI see the houses where my friends grew up and the green areas I played in as a child To better notice my new neighbors and the expression they've put on our environment, I use the walk as a research tool. What do I really know about my new neighbors and our neighborhood? These questions were the source of the research Silent communication. Hvað geta umferðarskilti, graffíti, hanski á rafmagnskassa, broskall á bílrúðu sagt okkur? Umhverfið er marglaga og bókin endurspeglar þau margbreytilegu merki sem mynda þögul samskipti í hverfinu okkar.

I have lived in Vesturbær since I was a child. I see the houses where my friends grew up and the green spaces where I used to play. To become more aware of my new neighbors and the marks they have left on our environment, I use walks as a research tool. What do I really know about my new neighbors and our neighborhood? These questions were the starting point for the project Silent Conversations. What can traffic signs, graffiti, a glove on an electrical box, or a smiley face drawn on a car window tell us? The environment is multilayered, and the book reflects the diverse signs that form silent conversations in our neighborhood.
