My work developed from Alice in Wonderland, emphasizing the Queen of Hearts and the Queen of White I found them fascinating because of their differences in dramatic, dark and controlling nature from the light, soft and graceful onesI wanted to capture these contrasts in one line.
In the conceptual work, I examined color schemas, symbols and textures: cards, roses, sharp molding against soft lines, and the contrast between light and darkness The result was a line that blends two different energies into one form, showing both the power of the Queen of Hearts and the beautiful, almost dreamlike calm of the White Queen.
Eventually, the line evolved into a visual take on the roses, with the white roses painted red straight angle in the chaos of the two queens.
