Vanishing spectrum

This essay is about an art study I conducted in the fall of 2023 and was about learning to make my own ink from natural materials in my immediate environment. I created color samples and documented the process in a diary that I then compiled into a book I call Liti.

The second part of the study was about using the methods of ink making to document the spectrum of three placesI got material from the positions, created colors, took photographs and put them together in another book I call Staði.

I then share the books electronically on the website Vanishing spectrum

In the text, I describe the process that led to the creation of the works, tell of the positions, why I chose them and the values of the registries, I examine the methods of art research according to Henk Borgdorff's definitions and my own approach to the subject I discuss the concepts of everyday and transience; my interpretation of them, how they relate to each other and how they appear in this study, in the works of other artists and in Japanese aesthetics I consider Yuriko Saito's theories on the aesthetics of everyday life, examine the concepts of mono no aware, wabi sabi and ma, and discuss the value of enjoying the beauty in the transience of everyday life.
