You know my name is Jonna Jónborg Sigurðardóttir is a book based on the work of my mother, the artist Jonna Jónborg Sigurðardóttir. The goal was to collect and document her work, but in the process the book work developed into a personal conversation. Her work is done based on emotions, traumas and life experiences, presented here in an organized graphic system where text and image meet. Along with it, my own voice appears that reflects our relationship and my experiences. The work deals with the relationship between mother and daughter, understanding, distance and my agreement that art is necessary for mom to process trauma. The most important question was therefore: Can artistic creation heal us?
