MA Compositions
Jun Hyeop Kim, born in Seoul, South Korea, is a composer whose foundation in
Russian music education and rich literary influences have shaped his unique
musical voice. His diverse interests encompass 20th-century harmony,
contemporary styles, and film music, leading him to conduct and compose for
various ensembles and soloists. Notably, he has performed Beethoven with the
Savaria Symphony Orchestra in Hungary and Mozart with the Iceland Symphony
Orchestra. In addition, Jun is actively involved in film music, specializing in
orchestration and composing original scores for natural independent films.
Jun currently based in Reykjavik, Iceland, and is pending advanced (MA
degree) studies in composition at the Iceland Academy of the Arts under the
guidance of Atli Ingólfsson. He recently graduated with a Bachelor's Degree
in Composition from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he
studied under Elinor Armor. Additionally, Jun has a solid foundation in music
education, which complements his compositional work and enhances his
understanding of pedagogy.
