About the project

The grass tickles the ankles as it runs across the field Hair blows in front of the face and the sun colors the cheeks red The clear sky is a welcome sight and the yellow dragon floats playfully lightly above the boys and they scream to give thanks for the wind.

There are two large fields in the north of Sandgerði that are largely untouched outside several man-made trails. The sudden expanse within the town forms a rupture in the townscape but activates the imagination. The design of the building tries to find answers to how the architecture of generation houses could meet the challenges of the impending environmental threat in Reykjanes, while at the same time creating shelter for residents and breathing life into the local community.

The grass tickles his ankles as he runs across the field. Hair blows in his face and the sun colors his cheeks. The young boys scream cheerfully into the wind as their yellow kite glides playfully above them.

Situated in the northern part of Sandgerði are two (almost untouched) fields. By posting my buildings here, they tie together two built neighborhoods on either side of the fields, while staying respectful to the natural environment. The large sloping roof structure mimics the declining shape of the field. And push the wind up to the urban windmills while sharing the residences inside from the harsh environment.
