Guðný Guðmundsdóttir started her music studies at the age of 5 in Reykjavík's Girls' Choir with Margréti J. Pálmadóttir, but later started studying at the music school Domus Vox, where her teachers were Hanna Björk Guðjónsdóttir and Antonia Hevesi, and from there she completed her middle degree in the spring of 2014. Then she went to the Singing School in Reykjavík, where her teacher was Ólöf Kolbrún Harðardóttir and co-star Hrönnsdóttir, and from there she completed her leaving exam in singing in the spring of 2019.
In the fall of 2023, she began studying at the Iceland Academy of the Arts. Her teachers are Hanna Dóra Sturludóttir, Kristinn Sigmundsson, Dísella Lárusdóttir, Ryan Driscoll and co-star Matthildur Anna Gísladóttir.
In the spring of 2019, she won 3rd place in the singing competition Vox Domini in the University category.
Guðný has taken many operatic roles in this process, including 1st Boy in Mozart's Magic Flute, Adele in Strauss's Bat, Nunzia in Francesca Caccini's La liberazione di Ruggiero dall'isola di Alcina, and this spring she will play the role of Mother in Hanselbert Humperdinck's Hanselbert Humperdinck.
