In the heart of Stykkishólm, there is a house that has been transformed with the aim of connecting family and nature The house becomes a generation house for the Same family A new form rises on top of the existing house, inspired by the woodland of their home grounds The unconventional sleeping spaces connect the inhabitants to the sky while the main space calls for more togetherness and a conscious connection to the weather and nature with a separate extension The home bridges the gap from past to present and connects the person back to nature and the weather.

Under the Open Sky

In the heart of Stykkishólmur is a house that has been transformed to connect family and nature. The house will become a multi-generational home for a Sámi family. A new form rises above the existing building, inspired by the forested landscape of their home Unconventional sleeping spaces connect the inhabitants with the sky, while the main living area greater tension and a conservative connection to the weather and nature, with a separate extension. The home connections the gap between origin and present, reconnecting humans with nature and the future.
