The trigger for the world I wanted to create with my finishes lay in my favorite villain costumes from well-chosen moviesI wanted to deliver some evil in my finishes but hold onto the ‘camp’ that often characterizes the costumes of villains and draw on the humor throughout the process I also worked with references to medieval attire and looked at headdresses and profiles on sleeves, which were often in pieces and tied together and slots in the pieces so the sleeve of petticoats flowed out between decorative cover sleevesI worked a lot with unconventional fabrics for clothing, such as curtains, but mixed in more traditional fabrics, nylon socks and suit pants, in order to achieve a balance of silhouettes and feeling Exaggerated and lightly ridiculous garments were created in the process that speak into the world of villains and the line between costumes and fashion.
