About the project

The project Vaki is a shelter where stay and study meet in close contact with a unique landscape Individuals who attend the shelter aim to better understand how life gains a foothold in newly formed lava and at the same time to experience the nature that surrounds the area The building is divided into two main cores On the one hand, there is a accommodation facility, where the spaces are designed with regard to the sun's passage and wind direction, and on the other hand, there is a research section, where facilities are for various experiments The approach to the shelter is an important part of the overall experience Walking platforms lie on either side of the buildings and lead visitors to and from the site from opposite directions Walking these platforms is a process of journey into an environment where nature and human activity meet at a balance point.

The project Vaki conservators of a residence where dwelling and research meeting in close connection with a unique landscape. Those who come to the residence aim to better understand how life takes hold in a newly formed lava, while also operating the surrounding nature. The arrangement is an important part of the environmental experience.
