One night when I woke up I was no longer in the city where I had fallen asleep, but in CarcosaI didn't know how I had gotten there The streets were empty and blurred Lights were burning in the windows but no one seemed to be inside If I looked too long I got tired behind my eyes The city was familiar, as if I had been there before, like a memory or a dream Sometimes it was like something was watching me, but I don't know what it was I don't know if I want to find out.
The City of the Yellow-clad King Carcosa, first appeared in a short story by Ambrose Bierce from 1886, and has since appeared in numerous novels, television series, and video games The city of Carcosa has thus become a collective occult space Frederick Dagur Kristófersson paints oil paintings based on dreams and memories of places he has visited in real life and in fiction The paintings depict a psychological urban landscape, working from light to dark and foreground converges with background.
