Who decided that there was only one mother tongue in our country? There are two Icelandic: Icelandic vocal language and Icelandic sign language. Why is most people meant to know only one of them? Icelandic vocal language and Icelandic sign language should be equally important in our society Icelandic sign language needs to be more prominent in everyday life Together we can change people's attitudes towards deaf and Icelandic sign language society, strengthen awareness of it and increase education It is not the privilege of Deaf people to speak to someone hearing with sign language but it is their human rights Perhaps it will be the „norm“ one day that all Icelanders understand each other.

They should be equally important in our society. Icelandic sign language needs to be appropriate in our daily lives. It is still possible to change people's right. Perhaps one day this will be the „normer Icelanders“.
