The installation reflects my perspective, being homesick in Iceland and seeing my native Japan and mother tongue appear to me here in an unexpected context in Reykjavík. What do you see in this new environment?
I think I miss home so much. I see Japanese language characters (symbols) and shapes all around in my neighborhood in Reykjavík. I first collected these shapes and documented them. Then, I rearranged and played with these characters to make a kind of bridge between Japan and Iceland. In the book I've made, I invite people to join me on this journey. The book scientists of 3 parts: Find, Converted and Rebuild and Communicate. The layout of the book presents my own perspective, observing Iceland through the lens of homesickness and seeing my home, Japan, and its language in the new here in Reykjavík.
