Kristrún Guðmundsdóttir began studying violin at the age of seven at Sigursvein D. Kristinsson's Music School. She also started singing in choirs at an early age and was at the longest time in Reykjavík's Girls' Choir. Kristrún's formal singing program began in January 2021 at Sigurðar Dementz's Singing School under the guidance of Signýjar Sæmundsdóttir and Antonia Hevesi.

In the spring of 2022, she completed a middle degree in classical solo singing before the trip was called to the University of the Arts. Her teachers are Dísella Lárusdóttir, Hanna Dóra Sturludóttir, Kristinn Sigmundsson and Matthildur Anna Gísladóttir as well as guest teachers.

At the Academy of Arts, she performed the role of Zweite Knabe in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Der Zauberflæte and Alfred and Ida in Johann Strauss Jr.„s Die Fledermaus as well as various roles in the school's opera scene productions Along with her studies, Kristrún worked as a youth representative in Neskirkja and performed the duties there, among other things, of assistant choir director of Neskirkja's Children's Choir. She also sang in the choir and was a soloist where she premiered works by Steingrím Þórhallsson, choir director and organist of Neskirkja. She and Steingrímur Þórhallsson also held the concert “Piano Music and Hymns in the Winter Solstas" at the end of 2023.
