It goes through a journey and forms and colors are used for storytelling. A garment becomes a graphic form and a new experience of knitting patterns is created. But how? She looked at the patterns as a garment but I look at them as forms By taking her units forward, there will be a union and a new whole.

A series of gold bracelets adorned her arm, glowering as she worked on the knitting, units in a grid. My great-grandmother, Astrid Ellingsen, dedicated her life as a knit designer and was a pioneer in Icelandic knitting design. Grandma was a big character, colorful and glamorous person. She deduced every detail from units, and out of them appeared a pattern which can be resembled as a family tree.
A journey where narrative is conveys through the use of colors and shapes. A piece towers into a graphic form, therefore a new feel for knitting pattern is created. But how? Whereas I perceive the patterns as shapes, she saw them as pieces. By extending her units, there is unity, and a new whole emerges.
My interpretation of her life's journey. Grandma's units continue to grow, regenerate, and live.
