Between Worlds: Exploring mixed heritage and identity.
The project explores the impact of being of mixed descent and uncertainty about one's own roots Such experiences can have profound effects on identity and create a sense of social distance The project is based on a personal and research-driven approach in which I visited Guinea where my roots lead to West Africa The result shows patterns designed from my nationalities New are traditional patterns from each country along with dominant colors from their environment Patterns and colors are eventually combined into a whole A platform was also designed that offers others to do the same and implement their own patterns The goal is to celebrate mixed origins, strengthen identity and provoke discussion about diversity.
