Freyja Jónsdóttir began studying music on cello at the Suzuki Music School in Reykjavík at the age of four and completed her middle school. She started singing studies at Sigurðar Demetz's Singing School in 2013 under the guidance of Hallveigar Rúnarsdóttir. From there she graduated with a leaving exam in the spring of 2023. Since the fall in 2023, Freyja has studied singing under the guidance of Hanna Dóra Sturludóttir, Dísella Lárusdóttir and Kristin Sigmundsson.

Freyja has been an active choir member since the age of 12. She has been in the Hamrahlíðar choir under the direction of Þorgerðar Ingólfsdóttir, Graduale Nobili under the direction of Jón Stefánsson and is in the Hljómeyki singing group under the direction of Stefan Sand. Freyja has sung solo with Hljómeyki many times, including a large solo part in the Vídalín Mass by Hildigunni Rúnarsdóttir and the soprano solo in Jaakko Mäntyjärvi's Canticum calamitatis maritimae. With the Hamrahlíðar Choir, Freyja has sung on the album Utopia by Björk.

Among other roles in operas and operettas that Freyja has performed are: Spes in the opera Gretti by Þorkel Sigurbjörnsson, Mademoiselle Silberklang in Der Schauspieldirektor by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the title role in Susannah by Carlisle Floyd Freyja will then play the role of the witch in Engelbert Humperdinck's Handel und Gretel under the auspices of the Singing Department of the Iceland Academy of the Arts.
