BA Instrumental Composition

Ágúst Arnhildarson (b. 1997) is a musician and published poet. His compositions include works for violin, but Ágúst is a violinist and has extensive experience in music performance. From a young age, he studied classical music and grew up with strong choir work. Ágúst has participated in diverse projects with orchestras, chamber ensembles, choirs and vocal groups. Thus, vocal songs have become prominent in his compositions, where his love and spirit towards the Icelandic language crystallize in the fusion of poems and tones. About Ágúst's first book of poetry, the writer and poet Steinunn Sigurðardóttir said: , new voice - unique emotional sensitivity and word sense. The Icelandic national heritage is the backdrop of Ágúst's artistic creation, but his roots in Fnjóskadal, Suður Þingeyjarsýslá, his Hewn's world view of poetry, and the northern part of the title, is not least likely to be written.

For the past three years, Ágúst has studied music composition at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and graduated from there in the spring of 2026. The knowledge and training that Ágúst has received in the composition program now enables him to fulfill the composer's excellent role in his own poetry and he intends to develop his methods and musical creation in a master's program.
