Twice a year, the academic staff of the Iceland Academy of the Arts are given the opportunity to apply for career advancement. The qualification committee reviews the applications and the staff goes through a detailed professional assessment. Four academic staff receive career advancement as of August 1, 2026. The staff comes from three departments of the school, i.e. Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts and Faculty of Music.

From the Faculty of Architecture:

  • Anna Sigríður Jóhannsdóttir wins promotion to the position of professor
  • Sahar G. Kvaran wins promotion to the rank of professor

From the Faculty of Fine Arts:

  • Páll Haukur Björnsson wins promotion to the position of associate professor

From the Music Department:

  • Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir is promoted to the position of associate professor.
