Four receive job promotions

Twice a year, academic staff at the Iceland Academy of the Arts are given the opportunity to apply for promotion. An eligibility committee reviews the applications and the staff undergo a thorough professional assessment. Four academic staff will receive promotion as of August 1, 2026. The staff come from three departments of the school, namely the Department of Architecture, the Department of Fine Arts and the Department of Music.

From the Department of Architecture:

• Anna Sigríður Jóhannsdóttir is promoted to the position of professor
• Sahar G. Kvaran is promoted to the position of professor

From the Department of Fine Arts: 

• Páll Haukur Björnsson is promoted to the position of associate professor

From the Music Department:

• Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir is promoted to the position of associate professor.
