A group of emerging Icelandic designers will take part in Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven this October with the exhibition North of Tomorrow. Bringing together six projects, the exhibition looks at the future from an Icelandic point of view and ask what can happen when existing systems, materials and technologies are approved different.

Rather than treating the future as something distant or determined, North of Tomorrow explores it as something being shaped in the present. Through material experiments, digital systems, artificial intelligence and speculative approach to design, the projects question how we make, use and relate to the things around us.

Moving between the families and the unfamiliar, the projects examine the responsibilities that come with new possibilities and consider how design can challenge established ways of thinking.

Part critique, part speculation and part proposal, North of Tomorrow invites scientists to engage with futures that are still open to debate.

Presented as part of Dutch Design Week 2026, the exhibition offers an international platform for a new generation of designers working from an Icelandic context while addressing questions that extend beyond.
