Open lecture - Studio Bua

Studio Bua is a London-based architectural firm founded in 2017 by architects Mark Smyth and Sigrúna Sumarliðadóttir.

The studio works on diverse projects in the field of architecture,
interior design and exhibition design, where the focus is on sustainability, quality craftsmanship and connection to cultural heritage. With a human-centered approach, Studio Bua is constantly looking for dialogue between the shallow and the innovative, guided by the fact that design should be both sincere and nourishing for the people who use the spaces.

Despite its young age, the firm has received countless awards such as Architectural Digest's AD100 2023, Icelandic Design Award 2023 [Finalist], Dezeen Award for Residential Rebirth Project of the Year 2022 [Winner], AR House Award 2021 [Commended], AJ Small Projects Awards 2021 [Finalist] and AIA UK 2020 Excellence in Design Awards [Emerging Practice [Winner].

Here in Iceland, the salon is best known for its redesign of the former deserted farms Nýp and Heinabergi on Skarðsströnd.

The Architecture Department of the Iceland Academy of the Arts offers Sigrún's lecture on the studio's work on Wednesday, August 26 at 12:15-13 in Skrida.
