„I know I'm ten inside myself“
A study of identity reinforcement through artistic creation
This article-making is part of a personal journey of growth through teaching and artistic creation where I myself am the experimental project After having doubts about my own excellence since I finished my studies in graphic design, the research evolved towards autoethnographic introspection, as well as being a staff study and art research By focusing my attention inward, I studied my inner discourse and looked for ways to soften negative thoughts towards myself.
The process has been layered and interesting guards have directed me into new paths. I recorded experiences and thoughts towards teaching diaries to promote myself as a professional, and those writings became an important precursor to the art research.
The aim of the art study was to strengthen my identity through artistic creation where the process itself was central, without the expectation of outcome These experiments I call „mimicry“ and during the creative process I documented my well-being through audio recordings and took pictures of the works.
My intention in the process was to give myself permission to be imperfect, fail and find the joy in the creative processI regularly reminded myself that I didn't have to do anything spectacular, only to learn by doing About 450 simulated works were created in fourteen days and some of them will adorn the walls of my home in an exhibition to mark the publication of this article in the fall of 2024.
