Mirage is a collaborative exhibition by Juliette Frenay and Steinunn Önnudóttir.
Enter the laundry room. The space is cool and dimly lit. Sheets of chiffon and organza in varying colours and patterns are suspended from the cloth lines. They provide glimpses from separate worlds that come together to create a fractional scene. We open a door, you find a way. It is a proposition of visions. Floating images in a sensory environment, almost empty but filled with lightness. With both feet firmly in the everyday, your head is free to wander off.

Juliette Frenay

Juliette Frenay's work deals mainly with images. Glimpses of reality staged through the eye of the camera are the first step to her process. What remains when the initial subject has been removed. The elements of the composition create a sensory experience. She focuses on conveying the primary feeling using the proper medium. Through textiles, performances, videos and installations, she deals with shapes, colours and movements. Juliette is an exchange student in the MA program of Fine Arts at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts, she's currently studying at the Beaux Arts in Paris where she graduated from the Bachelor Program last year.

Steinunn Marta Önnudóttir

Steinunn Önnudóttir’s primary medium is painting. Painting as a process, a mental state of exploration where the artist is a vehicle of the application process. The procedure requires extreme alertness to material reactions, but no less a readiness to forfit control, to be an equal partner in the trio of surface, substance and action. Steinunn Önnudóttir lives and works in Reykjavík and is currently enrolled in the MA program of Fine Arts at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts. Steinunn has previously completed a BA in Audiovisual Art (’11) and a BA in Graphic Design (’09) from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. In 2014 Steinunn co-founded the Harbinger Project Space in Reykjavík, which runs to this day.
