Who the course is for: The course is for musicians and artists interested in Icelandic music.
Recent research on Icelandic music is surveyed. Composers and scholars present their research on Icelandic music. Aspects can include compositional factors, ideologies, and relationships with performers and society at any given time. Students select topics for further study and apply appropriate research methods.
Assessment: Attendance and participation, assignments, final project.
Supervisor: Kolbeinn Bjarnason.
Time and place: Mondays from 10:30 - 12:10 and twice on Wednesdays (November 27 & December 4). Skipholt 31.
Time period: October 7 - December 4, 2019
Units: 4 ETCS.
Should students decide to take a course without ECTS the teacher does not provide feedback for the students work. Difference in the price of the course is therefore based on the teachers’ workload. Courses taken without ECTS can be registered, without ECTS, on the students’ transcript of records.
Price: 49.000 kr. (without ECTS) / 61.200 kr. (with ECTS).
Preliminary requirement: Good command of English. A BA-degree or a comparable education.
