Föstudaginn 11. mars kl. 13 mun TRICKSTER, samvinnuverkefni 5 hollenska listamanna flytja erindi um verk sín og vinnuaðferðir í fyrirlestrarsal myndlistardeildar að Laugarnesvegi 91.
TRICKSTER er samvinnuverkefni fimm listamanna sem auk þess að starfa sjálfstætt að listsköpun sinni, vinna sameiginlega að tilraunum með óvænta gjörninga (instant performance). Hópurinn nýtir sér gjörninga, innsetningu og leikræna nálgun til þess að vinna að verkum sínum. Með bakgrunn í sviðslistum, tónlist, myndlist og leikmyndagerð, rannsaka þeir eðli samsetningu forma; nokkuð sem þeir telja vera opinn strúktúr þar sem flytjendur uppgötva eða ná að skapa einstakt form í sameiningu.
Í erindi sínu mun hópurinn fjalla um meginþætti í starfi TRICKSTER hópsins þar sem greint verður m.a. frá verkefni sem kallast „herstory“. Með því að taka dæmi um nokkra gjörningar sem þeir hafa unnið og tildrög þeirra mun hópurinn einnig fjalla um hvernig samstarfi þeirra er háttað og hvernig hópurinn undirbýr sig fyrir gjörninga, oft án þess að hittast. Í seinni hluta fyrirlestursins mun hópurinn leggja fyrir skriflega æfingu með það að markmiði að gefa nemendum tækifæri á því að fá hugmyndir að sameiginlegu verkefni, sem byggir á ákveðnu þema að eigin vali.
TRICKSTER dvelur í Reykjavík með það að markmiði að rannsaka hugmyndir um útvarp sápuóperunnar og verður með gjörning í MENGI, föstudaginn 11. Mars kl. 21.

OPEN LECTURE AT THE DEPARTMENT OF FINE ART
On Friday the 11th of March at 1 pm an open lecture by TRICKSTER, an ensemble consisting of five artists will be held at the Department of Fine Art, Laugarnesvegur 91.
TRICKSTER is an ensemble consisting of five artists who, in addition to their individual practice, are experimenting as a collective with 'instant performance'. Trickster creates work using creative game tactics, but these are never permissive: play is a serious matter. With backgrounds in theatre, music, art and scenography, they are researching the nature of emergent-form composition: an open structure in which the performers discover or create unique forms together. Artistic generosity is a key concept in this method.
The first part of the lecture will be a short journey through some of the highlights of the TRICKSTER 'herstory'. By using examples of performances the group will explain how they have learned to work together and how they prepare for a performance, sometimes without even meeting one another. In the second part of the lecture they will conduct a little writing exercise to give the guest the opportunity to create an idea for a collective work based on one specific theme they choose themselves.
To name a few of their performances: Trickster the Play (2015, Fuck you Friedrich, WORM, Rotterdam) is a complex play in which each Trickster member takes the role of their own stand-in; Parasite Event (2014, Festival Witte de With Kwartier, Rotterdam) uses the strategy of performing in other festival participants pieces such as exhibitions, gigs, talks or screenings; ON/OFF (2014, TEST extra: Tele li(f/v)e, Nutshuis, The Hague) explores being in the screen or outside the frame.
TRICKSTER is in Reykjavik to research the concept of the radio soap opera and will perform in MENGI Friday 11th of march at 21.00 h.
