Föstudaginn 2. september kl.12:15 heldur Dr. Karin Bürkert fyrirlesturinn „Er opinber stuðningur tvíeggja sverð? - Menningarborgir, listamenn og athafnafólk“, í fyrirlestraröð hönnunar- og arkitektúrdeildar Listahákóla Íslands, GESTAGANGI. Fyrirlesturinn fer fram í fyrirlestrasal A í Þverholti 11.

Dr. Karin Bürkert er þjóðfræðingur við Tübingenháskóla í Þýskalandi. Hún mun kynna menningarmiðstöðina Wagenhalle í Stuttgart og tala um tilraunir til að varðveita eyðiland iðnaðar sem menningarvettvang. Þá mun hún einnig fjalla um mikilvægi sköpunar og stuðning við (jaðar)listir í þjónustusamfélagi okkar daga.

Fyrirlesturinn er haldinn í samstarfi við námsbraut í þjóðfræði og safnafræði við Háskóla Íslands.

Fyrirlesturinn fer fram á ensku og eru allir velkomnir.

On Friday September 2nd at 12:15 Dr. Karin Bürkert gives the lecture "Cultural entrepreneurs in Stuttgart and the ambivalence of support" as part of GESTAGANGUR, lecture series by The Department of Design and Architecture at Iceland Academy of the Arts. The lecture takes place in lecture room A at Þverholt 11.

Dr. Karin Bürkert is an Ethnologist at the University of Tübingen in Germany. She will introduce a cultural center called "Wagenhalle" in Stuttgart  and talk about their efforts to preserve an industrial wasteland as a cultural venue. Furthermore she will discuss the difficulties to support the (sub)cultural scene and their needs against the background of the imperative of creativity in Post-Fordistic urban societies.

The lecture is held in collaboration with the Programme of Folkloristics/Ethnology and Museum Studies at the University of Iceland.

The lecture is in English and open to the public.
