    \nA Food Re-Decision Facility Between Rejection and Public Life<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Mediating Misfits proposes a prototype for Food Re-Decision
    \nFacility at S\u00fadarvog 23 and 2f, within the planning area of Vogabygg\u00f0ar - Area 2 and near the transport and distribution system of Sundahavn The project responds to the moment when sensitive vegetables are rejected in the distribution system, although it can still be edible or usable.<\/p>\n

    Instead of rejection directly leading to waste, the project tests how architecture can create a controlled standby within the food distribution system There, food products can be inspected, cooled, processed, redistributed, transformed, or discarded depending on its condition.<\/p>\n

    The proposal reuses the existing warehouse and organizes it into two related sections: an industrial section for food handling and a public section for the public The official section includes food kiosks, dining areas, exhibition spaces, teaching spaces, and a viewing platform where visitors can observe selected parts of the process.<\/p>\n

    Located between a distribution system, residential areas and future development, the project asks how architecture can create time, care and new value for food before it becomes waste.<\/p>\n

    Mediating Misfits prophecies a prototype Food Re-Decision Facility at S\u00fa\u00f0arvogur 2e and 2f, within the Vogabygg\u00f0 - Area 2 planning area and close to Sundah\u00f6fn's logistics corridor. The project responses to the moment when perishable vegetables are commercially rejected even though they may still be edible or materially usable.<\/p>\n

    Instead of claiming to absorb all rejected production in Reykjav\u00edk, the project tests how architecture can create a controlled pause within the food distribution system. Rejected production can be inspected, graduated, distributed, transformed, or discarded according to its condition.<\/p>\n

    The proposal reasons an existing warehouse and reorganizes it into two connected parts: an industrial wing for food handling and a civic wing for public access. The public wing includes food stands, dining space, educational rooms, and a viewing deck where visitors can obscure selected parts of the process.<\/p>\n

    Positioned between logistics infrastructure, residential areas, and future urban transformation, the project ask's how architecture can create time, care, and new value for food before it becomes waste.<\/p>\n
