    The Magni project investigates how to highlight specific local features at Strandveg in the West Indies and use them as the basis for a new intervention in the port of Skipasandi The design aims to maximize the cultural value of the area with an emphasis on improvement and protection, rather than demolition and new construction.<\/p>\n

    The core of the project consists in harnessing the carbon already sequestered in the local structures, based on the assumption that the most environmentally friendly architecture is the one already erected By renovating the 1912 Magnahusi\u00f0 as a shelter, an inextricable connection is formed between the historical architectural heritage and modern demands for sustainability The goal is to revitalize old splendors and create an ecological framework for future-oriented industry in the West Indies.<\/p>\n

    Magni explorores how to highlight the unique local characteristics of Strandvegur in Vestmannaeyjar, using it as a foundation for a new intervention within the Skipasandur shipyard. The design prioritizes adaptive reuse over demolition to maximize cultural value and minimize carbon impact.<\/p>\n

    The core of the project lies in activating the embodied carbon, following the principle that the most sustainable building is the one already standing. By repurposing the 1912 Magni building and the storage space at Strandvegur 72 into a residency, historical heritage is seamlessly integrated with modern sustainability. The goal is such to operate old embers and create an eco-friendly framework for future-oriented industry in Vestmannaeyjar.<\/p>\n
