Runes are the oldest written language of the Germanic language and arrived in Iceland with settlers Although the Latin alphabet took over after the conversion to Christianity and the Reformation, the runes lived on in Iceland longer than elsewhere in Europe and developed into special Icelandic runes The font is based on \u201ethe new Icelandic runes\u201c, as described in the book Icelandic runes - 1000 years of history.<\/p>\n<p>(T.O.N.<\/p>\n<p>Stafr\u00fan is a new digital font for the Icelandic runes.
