    Kinstead<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Kinstead is a newly constructed word that combines kin (family, community) and stead (home, residence) and rethinks an old swimming pool in the centre of Stykkish\u00f3lm as cohabitation space with a restaurant at its heart Inspired by the architecture of the tropics, the project adapts coexistence as it is known there to a cold Icelandic climate with natural materials, gardens and common spaces Rather than referring to a single country, the design takes inspiration from the wide area of the tropics, where coexistence, outdoor space and natural building methods are common That approach reflects people moving between layers of air, rather than borders Kinstead is designed to strengthen relationships and reduce loneliness, and offers a residential model of the future that is sustainable, inclusive and supportive of the emotions of its residents.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

    Kinstead, a word created by combining kin (family, community) and stead (dwelling), reimagines an existing pool building in downtown Stykkish\u00f3lmur as a co-housing space. Inspired by tropical architecture, where shared living, external spaces, and natural buildings are common across areas. Rather than research, the project often includes and cultural activities, which includes cultural activities and cultural activities.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
