B.Mus. Singing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brynd\u00eds \u00c1sta Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir (b. 2003) started learning the cello at the age of six, but started her singing career upon returning from living in Sweden, where she grew up. At the age of fifteen, she began to study classical singing under the guidance of Gu\u00f0r\u00fan J\u00f3hanna J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir, Gu\u00f0r\u00fan Dal\u00eda Sal\u00f3monsd\u00f3ttir and \u00de\u00f3ra Bj\u00f6rnsd\u00f3ttir at Gar\u00f0ab\u00e6r's Music School, and completed her advanced degree from there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trigger for Brynd\u00eds \u00c1stu's singing studies was an interest in better technique and skills within pop, jazz and gospel singing. Over time, however, the interest in the classics increased and she worked on these different styles in parallel. She worked singing at parties and events, a lot in the trio Gar\u00f0asisterur, but also as a soloist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lately, the classics have taken over entirely, and Brynd\u00eds enjoys researching that deep, diverse and expressive scene Instead, she now plays jazz on the cello. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brynd\u00eds \u00c1sta started studying at the Iceland Academy of the Arts in the fall of 2022 with Hanna D\u00f3ra Sturlud\u00f3ttir, Kristni Sigmundsson, D\u00edsella L\u00e1rusd\u00f3ttir, Kolbeini Ketilsson and Matthilda Anna G\u00edslad\u00f3ttir. Last fall, she went on an exchange program at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and studied there with \u00c5sa B\u00e4verstam and Magnus Svensson. In the spring of 2024, Brynd\u00eds \u00c1sta won third prize in the university category of the singing competition Vox Domini. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her schooling, she has taken the stage in all kinds of roles. Examples include Adele in Johann II Strauss's Bat, Alcina in Francesca Caccini's La Liberazione di Ruggiero d'all isola di Alcina as well as Papagena and Pamina from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Magic Flute. Brynd\u00eds \u00c1sta has also performed two poetry series by Robert Schumann, Dichterliebe and Frauen-liebe und leben in her studies. In the spring of 2025, she took the stage at Kristj\u00e1n's sponsored concert, Bel Canto, in I\u00d0N\u00d3 together with D\u00edsella L\u00e1rusd\u00f3ttir, Gissuri P\u00e1l Gissurarson and Kristj\u00e1n J\u00f3hannsson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with her studies, Brynd\u00eds \u00c1sta has founded and organized the annual R\u00e4kkvan town and art festival and sung in \u00c1skirkja's Choir. She was chosen to be Gar\u00f0ab\u00e6r's Mountain Woman in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
