Expanding the horizon with improvisation<\/strong>
The project , To broaden your horizons with improvisation is Katr\u00edna's graduation project from Creative Music Media at the Iceland Academy of the Arts. The project is based on her final thesis, ,Spuni, solution to all problems?\u201c and the goal of the project was to introduce different types of improvisation to young music students with the purpose of showing them what improvisation can do for them as musicians and how it can be useful to them in their studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katr\u00edn Kar\u00edtas Vi\u00f0arsd\u00f3ttir<\/strong>
Katr\u00edn Kar\u00edtas started her music studies at the Music School in Akureyri when she was five years old. There she practiced piano, violin and viola, but the viola is her main instrument today. In the fall of 2021, she started studying at the Iceland Academy of the Arts in classical instrument teaching on viola under the guidance of \u00de\u00f3runn \u00d3skar Marin\u00f3sd\u00f3ttir. After the freshman trip early in the first semester, Katr\u00edn saw how much music has to offer and therefore decided to also study at the Creative Music Media, but since she could not skip the classics, she will graduate from the Classical Teacher course on viola in the spring of 2025. Katr\u00edn has played in all kinds of orchestras such as Korda Samf\u00f3n\u00eda, the Youth Orchestra of Iceland and has played with the Northern Symphony Orchestra.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t
