Each design studio is led by a distinguished local\/international practitioner\/s, who organizes,\u00a0in dialogue with the faculty,\u00a0an engaging, stimulating, and critical learning environment. Through the different stages of the programme, students will complete four comprehensive design studio projects, along with other supporting courses. Studios in the second and third semesters often include international collaborations. The last design studio is called MArch Final Thesis; this is an independent student-driven design work which leads to the title of MArch. Throughout the two-year full-time program, students are allowed to show that they have acquired the knowledge, skills, traits, attitudes, and behaviours necessary for becoming ethical practitioners able to use the design process as a collaborative project aimed at living together harmoniously.<\/p>\n<p><strong>After graduation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Graduates from the MArch can use their architectural education in multiple ways as building\/urban designers in private architectural firms and the public sector, and in other sectors where creativity and care are strongly required. Since its establishment in 2002, the department has been responsible for educating the architects of tomorrow while also shaping the meaning and scope of architecture and its education. Our studies are driven by the urgent need to respond through design to the grand challenges affecting the world today \u2013 the climate crisis, social inequality, rapid urbanization, and biodiversity loss, to name a few \u2013 and use Iceland as a platform for our research and design exploration.<\/em><\/h5>\n<h5><em>We are committed to fostering a learning environment where students and educators deepen their global awareness and are actively engaged as citizens of their communities. Such an environment is characterized by inclusion, diversity, and co-operation.
