The program is also suitable for working teachers in music schools who want to develop and promote themselves in their work. The course is carried out in collaboration with the music department of the Iceland Academy of the Arts.<\/p>\n<p>Emphasis is placed on students gaining an understanding and knowledge of the teacher's work, both academically and on the ground They can organize learning and learning components based on existing curricula and choose suitable learning materials, learning and assessment methods Teaching and communication are also examined in a wider context, and students are encouraged to present their own vision and ideas about art studies and study offerings in society.<\/p>\n<p>In the art education department, a group of people from all art forms has gathered, whose goal is to adopt and develop methods for art education with the widest possible social and ideological references.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Admission requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>General admission requirements are a bachelor's degree or a similar university program based on the applicant's ability to meet the requirements of the master's program.<\/p>\n<p>For this course there are admission requirements <span lang=\"is\">bachelor's degree in music or similar education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Applications must be accompanied by certified copies of diplomas together with other documents requested by the relevant department Admission Committees evaluate applications based on submitted data and interviews with applicants The Dean appoints admissions committees in consultation with the professional directors and work committees according to procedures presented to the applicants The decision of the admissions committees is final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Study structure<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>A guiding principle in shaping learning in vocal and instrumental education is individualization Students have about 12 credits in a so-called focus subject that they can use to strengthen themselves in their chosen field.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The focus subject may take the form of instrumental or vocal lessons but other focuses can also be chosen Examples of areas chosen by students are the emphasis on improvisation in teaching, composition in teaching or, in fact, in any field that students consider important for enhancing their skills in the teaching field.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The program is a two-year (four-semester), 120-unit academic and applied graduate program in vocal and instrumental education that culminates in an M.Mus.Ed. or M.A. degree.
