Students and dedicated students of Iceland University of the Arts make a big splash in Icelandic music life.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It can be seen, among other things, on the agenda Iceland Airwaves<\/a>, which will take place in Reykjav\u00edk 4 - November 8. Over 100 artists will perform on seven stages on the festival's main program.<\/p>\n

LH\u00cd students come from different backgrounds and deal with a variety of music, from indie pop and electronic music to experimental music. The British music medium The Line of Best Fit<\/a> has recently discussed some of them and Icelandic music.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Jos\u00e9 Luis Anderson appears under the stage name Andervel<\/strong>. He is from Quer\u00e9taro, Mexico and came to Iceland to pursue master's studies in New Audiences and Innovative Practice, NAIP, at department of music LH\u00cd and also studied composition at the school In an interview with The Line of Best Fit, he says that among the things that drew him to Iceland was the opportunity to take the time and space to develop as an artist.<\/p>\n

Andervel's first album, Ironclad and Palm Trees, carries influences from different cultures. Three of the album's seven songs are sung in Icelandic and draw inspiration from Hulda and J\u00f3hann Sigurj\u00f3nsson's poems.<\/p>\n

The Line of Best Fit<\/a> recently introduced fifteen artists and bands from the Icelandic music scene who perform at Iceland Airwaves for the first time under their current name. Their music spans, among other things, pop, folk music, electronic music and experimental music.<\/p>\n

The group includes a number of current students and LH\u00cd loyal students. Among them are Erla Hl\u00edn Gu\u00f0mundsd\u00f3ttir J\u00f6rgensen and Baldur Sk\u00falason Amor<\/em> Vincit<\/em> Omnia<\/em>, Bjarni Dan\u00edel \u00deorvaldsson, S\u00e6var Helgi J\u00f3hannsson, K\u00e1ri Hrafn Gu\u00f0mundsson in Marsibil<\/em> and J\u00f3n Logi P\u00e1lmason and \u00c1sgeir Kjartansson in BKPM<\/em>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Spider Network: experimental music in focus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Experimental Music Group <\/span>Spider Network<\/span><\/b> is a good example of what is created around the school The group has its roots in part <\/span>Sharpening<\/span><\/b> and <\/span>NAIP<\/span><\/b>. <\/span><\/p>\n

It includes both current and LH\u00cd students. Among them are students Eva Yuki Mik and Oscar Brillet, t\u00f3nlistardeildar loyal students Ronja J\u00f3hannsd\u00f3ttir, Konrad Stanislaw Groen and Masaya Ozaki, and Iuliia Vasileva, a current student of art.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Spider Network releases music, hosts events, and is a creative support network for artists, and has attracted attention for its experimental approach The group hosts concerts, performances, and other events where experimentation and collaboration are paramount. The Line of Best Fit<\/a> \u00a0discussed in detail the Spider Network in September and about the group's place in Reykjav\u00edk's experimental music scene In August, the group performed at Bjarkar's Echolalia Festival, among other things, when a solar eclipse passed.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

In LH\u00cd's department of music, we emphasize that intuition and curiosity are the driving force of creativity The program aims to promote students' independence, increase their knowledge and skills, and prepare them for diverse careers in music. Emphasis on independent work practices, creative thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration is also a rich part of the faculty's teaching strategy.<\/p>\n
