There, Katrín looks over her shoulder and highlights her research output on sea leather, while she is looking for new ways to the future.

In connection with the research, Katrín carried out numerous experiments with sea leather. She studied, among other things, the tanning of fish skin, colored it with natural dyes, treated it with natural oils, sewed it into the material and mixed it with other textiles. The work was also based on her research on cultural heritage and craft traditions related to the use of fish skin in the Arctic.

In retrospect, these studies and experiments are taken forward and placed in a contemporary context The exhibition is at once a settlement to the research process and a search for where to go next The exhibition includes tests and garments made from vegetable-colored marine leather, along with insights into the research and design process behind them.

The research continues after the show ends Katrín intends, among other things, to wear garments that have been dyed with natural dyes and document how they age and change over time. Thus, time itself becomes part of the research and the garments could later become research artifacts at a new exhibition.

Chasing the skin into the ocean

, Gets sea leather in your arms. What to do with this? Then, taking time, meeting artisans from around the world. It chases to Japan and meets there another community of women who stick themselves into the ocean, know how to breathe like fish, get treasures there.
