Gr\u00e9ta J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir is a master's student in the art education department of LH\u00cd<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201eI was born in Austin Texas and grew up there until the age of six.\u201c Then, my family and I moved to Iceland and I have lived in Iceland ever since and have lived the longest in Brei\u00f0holt\u201c.\u201c<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

After her primary schooling, Gr\u00e9ta chose to go to the Polytechnic School in Brei\u00f0holt and graduated from there as a student from the art course.<\/p>\n

\u201eFollowing that, I applied to the art department of the Iceland Academy of the Arts and graduated from there in 2020. After graduating from LH\u00cd, I continued my studies and completed an additional diploma in sexology at the University of Iceland. Soon after, I began to wonder how I could combine my knowledge with my interest in art, sexology and working with people, I felt that I was focused on studying art pedagogy at LH\u00cd\u201c.\u201c<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In Greta's opinion, the program in the art education department is diverse and offers many possibilities for different individuals.<\/p>\n

\u201eIt's easy to tailor the program to your own areas of interest, partly because of the diverse choice of courses. \" What has been particularly useful to me is getting to know different teachers and their teaching methods as well as being able to express myself teaching and doing practical teaching exercises.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

One of the reasons why Gr\u00e9ta chose to return to studying at LH\u00cd is how person-centered and accessible the program is.<\/p>\n

\u201eCommunication with teachers and administrators is simple and you feel that there is a real desire to support students. In addition, I see an opportunity to hold courses and workshops for different groups\u201c, says Gr\u00e9ta, but before she started studying art education, Gr\u00e9ta worked as a support consultant in a condominium and, along with work, used her free time in her own creativity.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Gr\u00e9ta has always enjoyed studying. When she was at the Polytechnic School in Brei\u00f0holt, the first feeling was that she might like to teach.<\/p>\n

\u201eI found the possibilities of teaching arts - particularly exciting both in terms of developing one's own curriculum, testing different teaching approaches, and creating spaces for creative processes\u201c Teaching in the arts offers a mutual influence, with students and teachers getting inspired, it feels fascinating.\u201c<\/p>\n

Gr\u00e9ta is in her last semester of studies in the art education department and plans to graduate in June.<\/p>\n

\u201eThe future for me is to start work on my final project and continue to develop myself as a teacherI envision many possibilities after completing my studies, but my dream is to teach art whether it's at the primary or secondary level\u201c.\u201c<\/p>\n
