\u00c1sa Helga Hj\u00f6rleifsd\u00f3ttir, director and associate professor at the Faculty of Film Arts at LH\u00cd, directs the video work Soap Opera<\/em> by Ragnar Kjartansson, which is now on display in i8 Grandi<\/strong> in the Marshall House.<\/p>\n

The piece, which is about 60 hours long, is a remake of 81 episodes from the American soap opera Santa Barbara<\/em>, which enjoyed enormous popularity in Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and Belarus in the 1990s and became an influential cultural touchpoint in the years after the fall of the Soviet Union.<\/p>\n

Ragnar and \u00c1sa Helga worked on the work together for several years and was Soap Opera<\/em> recorded at the GES-2 Cultural House in central Moscow in 2021 -2022. a review of the work recently appeared in The Art Newspaper<\/a>, where Ragnar and \u00c1sa Helga talked to Ann Binlot about the work.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Master talk<\/strong><\/h3>\n

That one November 20, 2025 at 1:00 pm<\/strong> will Ragnar and \u00c1sa Helga discuss the work and answer questions in a master's talk organized by the Faculty of Film Arts in the lecture hall in Laugarnes.<\/p>\n

Students are encouraged to see the work before, but the exhibition in i8 Grandi in the Marshall House<\/a> lasts until November 22.<\/p>\n

Masterclass<\/strong><\/h3>\n

On November 20, 2025 at 1:00 pm<\/strong>, Ragnar and \u00c1sa Helga will give a masterclass, hosted by the LH\u00cd Film Department.<\/p>\n

Students are encouraged to visit the exhibition beforehand at i8 Grandi Marshall House<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Admission is free and the exhibition is on view daily during November 22.<\/p>\n
