{"id":20477,"date":"2025-01-31T13:10:20","date_gmt":"2025-01-31T13:10:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lhi.is\/?p=20477"},"modified":"2025-02-18T10:25:26","modified_gmt":"2025-02-18T10:25:26","slug":"bragi-hilmarsson-vidtal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lhi.is\/en\/bragi-hilmarsson-vidtal\/","title":{"rendered":"Bragi Hilmarsson - interview"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"text-section txt-columns txt-content\" >\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"row animation-child-elements animation-bottom\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n\t\t\t\t<h3>The visual artist Bragi Hilmarsson is a master's student in the art education department<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201e<\/strong>I had always been very interested in the arts as a child, but for a long time I thought that it would never become anything more than a hobby, says Bragi, who tried many things before he sat down in a school class in the art education department of LH\u00cd, including the Guide School and event management at the University of H\u00f3lum, but couldn't find himself properly anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eWhile in event management, I realized that I think bookkeeping, tax and toilet planning are deadly teaching materials. I wanted to learn something I was interested in and decided to apply for a fine arts program, which had always been behind my ear. His final project is about checking if and how students in Icelandic elementary schools learn about contemporary art disciplines such as performances, installations and video works.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20481\" style=\"width: 664px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20481\" class=\"wp-image-20481 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lhi.is\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/thumbnail_Sometimes-its-like-that-0-48-screenshot.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"654\" height=\"481\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-20481\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Screenshot from the video performance Sometimes it's like that (2019)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201eI was blown away by these art forms when I met them in the art program, but have often been told from young and old that this is not real art because\" <em>\u201ethese are not paintings\u201c<\/em> or <em>\u201esomething to buy and own at home\u201c<\/em>.
