and colleagues, dear graduates!

Today when I address you, artists of the future, I would like to talk about the state of art in a world of perfection and image creationI would like to talk about freedom and the power of failure.

If I were to ask those of you sitting here to draw a straight line and follow it then you would fail The line would never be straight But by getting started you would discover this impossibility yourself You would also discover something much more important.

In the meanders of the line that seem invisible at first lies life, this irrationality that is often so difficult to spot There are found the magic of what we cannot control and anticipate The magic that happens in the creative process, the magic that is created along the way and how what we create gains its own life and becomes much bigger than ourselves.

The power of creation lies precisely there, it lies in what the French philosopher Maurice Blanchot described as the magic of the detour The magic of going through the whole forest to find one tree The magic of not taking the shortest path is the magic of going through.

Umberto Eco spoke of the positive power of error, equating it to the power of truth.

Entrepreneurs in the arts have over the centuries been shredded by critics, their work defined as anomalies that break all existing rules Nevertheless, these so-called failures were precursors to transformations that then created new norms and new realities.

As we step into the creative process ready to make mistakes, we are embracing freedomWe are recognizing how complicated life isWe recognize that the world we study is full of errors.

The creation of knowledge has historically been based on the fact that reality is a certain size but reality is in constant motion Reality is a complexity consisting of infinite unique events that are never constant because they are always on the path to becoming something.

There is nothing as stifling to creative thinking as the fear of making mistakes Mistakes are painful But no matter how complex and painful the moments are, we need to allow ourselves to dwell in themWe discover nothing but that we dare to step beyond the known and into the unknown Behind every spectacular work of art lies hundreds of mistakes. Countless attempts and mistakes are needed to succeed.

Mistakes occur on the fringes They are a conversation between what is inside and outside, a conversation between stasis and movement, between tradition and progressiveness Without mistakes, there will be no innovation The criteria of what is possible and what is impossible are created by other people It is up to you to change them.

In her book Now you see it, Cathy Davidson estimates that two-thirds of elementary school students will in the future work in jobs that do not exist because their jobs have not yet been invented.

Based on this, we could conclude that the role of students today is not to solve the problems that stand in the school book, but rather to define what the problems are.

In order for people to have the skills to work on what does not yet exist and to be able to flourish in an ever-changing and multi-layered world, creative thinking is more important than ever.

We need generations who think along different lines, come up with a new approach, ask other questions and solve things in other ways You are these people And for you to go out into the world and change it, I encourage you to put everything down and not be afraid of failure Don't try to please anyone Be willing to search and get lost Only in this way can you find new ways Creating works of art is largely involved in creating new puzzles and solving them.

The person tends to fear change, that when something new comes to the fore, something else comes to an end For example, the painting was predicted to be dead when the photograph appeared on the scene But what happened was that the painting evolved from naturalism to abstract The medium found new ways.

With the advent of social media and constant connectivity, live performance gained even more uniqueness for being the space we are in together here and now.

Let things die for rebirth to take place.

The existence of one does not threaten the existence of another. In times of polarization, the discourse is often such that one excludes the other. That we need to choose between. But let's always keep in mind that in conflict and criticism, new thinking can be born.

Dear students,

What we can be most grateful for is creativity itself You are here because you have chosen to cultivate it You have chosen to explore the unknown.

I encourage you on the journey ahead to embrace your feelings and cultivate your intuition A Harvard study found that one major component characterizes human beings who achieve outstanding results This aspect is emotional intelligence The factors that define emotional intelligence are the ability to listen, put themselves in other people's shoes, realize when we need to ask for help and when we are able to do things ourselves, but in large part it consists in daring to make mistakes, exposing ourselves to successful ones.

Leonard Cohen wrote one of the most immortal phrases of recent timesThere is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. This sentence reflects in many ways the content and essence of artThe person is basically imperfect and in that lies the beauty There the light gets in.

Artists trying to do perfect works, do little more than meet the vague expectations of othersDon't think what others want to see or experience Created new standards of what we want to see and experience.

In a world that prioritizes perfection, it is important to embrace and elevate the complexity and the infinite spectrum and learning that art offers. Celebrate the imperfections that make you who you are, celebrate the creative thinking that drives you. Remember that true beauty does not lie in flawlessness. The challenges you face, whether technical, environmental, or social, require new thinking and bold action.

Dear students,

When you started studying at this school, you envisioned a path, a kind of line that would lead you here to this moment we are experiencing here together today. Keep in mind that the composition of the stars themselves is lines drawn between points and precisely because the lines are complex and unspeakable, these stars form infinite beauty, they are a manifestation of complexity. You are these stars, show us the way and let yourselves shine brightly!

Use your education and trust your own judgment.

I sincerely congratulate you, your families and friends on your day. Now is the time to enjoy what has been achieved. The future is indeed yours!

Kristín Eysteinsdóttir speech in its entirety

Dear guests, dear friends, dear collectagues, and dear graduates!

Today, as I address you, the artists of the future, I would like to talk about the state of the arts in a world of perfection and image production. I would like to talk about freedom and the power of mistakes.

If I would ask you who sit here, to draw a straight line and follow it, you would fail. The line would never be straight. But by giving it a go you would discover this opportunity for yours. You would also discover something even something even more even.

Because in the squiggles of the line that at first seem invisible, lies life itself, this inscrutable thing that is often so difficult to discern. There, we find the magic of what we cannot control and cannot foresee. The magic that happens in the creative process, the magic that happens on the way and how our creations gain an independent life and is much larger than we, ours, are.

The power of creation lies precisely in this, it lies in what the French philosopher Maurice Blanchot described as the magic of the ambiguous. The magic of going through the whole forest to find a single tree. The magic of not taking the shortest route.

Umberto Eco talked about the positive power of mistakes and compared it to the power of truth. Through the ages, innovators in art have been brutally panned by critics, their works defined as deviations breaking all the rules. Nonetheless, these so-called failures where forers to changes that went on to create new paradigms and new realities.

When we step into the creative process willing to make mistakes, we are embracing freedom. We are advertising to how complex life is. We admit that the world we are exploring is full of errors. The creation of knowledge has through time been based on the presentation that reality is fixed reality is in constant fluctuations. Reality is a warning consensus of infinite individual events that are never stable because are they are always in the process of becoming something else.

There is nothing as constraining for creative thought as the fear of failure. Mistakes are painful. But however complicated and painful the moments are, we need to allow our guests dwell in them. We don't discover anything without we dare to step out of the known and into the unknown. Behind each magnificent work of art there are hundreds of mistakes. It takes serious attitudes and failures to solve.

Mistakes happen on the peripheries. They are a dialogue between the internal and the external, between the static and the dynamic, between convention and progress. Without mistakes there is no innovation. The paradigms of what is possible and impossible are set by other people. It is your hands to change them.

In her book Now You See It, Cathy Davidson predicts that two thirds of today's primary school students will in the future have occupations that do not exist these jobs

have yet to be invented. From this we can deduce that the role of students today is not to solve the problems set in the textbooks but rather to define what the problems are.

For people to obtain skills for jobs that yet do not exist, and in order to flourish in a constant changing and multi-layered world, creative thinking is more important than ever.

We need generations that think differently, provide new approaches, ask different questions, and problem solve in another way. You are these people. And in order for you to be able to do into the world and change it, I urge you to risk it all and be unafraid of making mistakes. Do not try to please anyone. Be willing to seek and get lost. Only then can you discover new paths. Creating art issues in great part in creating new puzzles and solving them.

Humans tend to fear change, to assume that when something new appears something else must end. For instance, the painting was explained extinct with the invention of photography. But what actually happened was that the painting evolved from naturalism to the abstract. The medium found a new way.

With the rise of social media and constant connection the theatre become even more exceptional as a space where we come together in the here and now.

Let things die so that regeneration can take place.

The existence of one thing does not think the existence of another. In these polarized times the discourse often suggest that one thing about eliminates another. That we must choose. But let us always keep in mind that new thinking can be born of conflict and criticism.

Dear students,

What we should be most happy for is the creative force itself. You are here because you have chosen to cultivate it. You have chosen to explore the unknown.

I encourage you, on the journey that awaits you, to embrace your feelings and to nurture your intuition. Research concluded by Harvard revealed that people who excel share one main characteristic. This characteristic is emotional intelligence. Defining traits of emotional intelligence are being able to listen, to put on themselves in another's shoes, to know when to ask for help and when one is able to do things by one hundred, but most of all it is about making mistakes, to be vulnerable.

Leonard Cohen composed one of the most memorable phrases of our times; There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. This sentence reflect in many ways the content and core of art. Humans are always imperfect and in there lies beauty. That's how the light gets in.

Artists who try to create perfect works of art, do little more than fulfill vague expectations of others. Do not think about what others want to see or experience. Make up new paradigms for what we want to see and experience.

In a world that prioritizes perfection it is important to embrace and celebrate complexity and the infinite spectrum and lessons that art offers. Welcome imperfection that makes you who you are, welcome the creative force that you. Remember that true beauty is not found in flawlessness. The challenges you face, where they are technical, environmental, or social, demand innovative thought and bold action.

Dear students,

When you started out in this school you imagined a path, some sort of line that would lead you here to this moment that we are sharing today. Keep in mind that the combination of the very stars are lines between dots and it is rarely because these lines are complex and mysterious that the constellations form immense beauty, they are the manifestation of diversity.
